Emply is acquired by Lessor Group in January 2021. The ambition is to create the market's strongest HCM solution, which covers the entire employee life cycle from employment to resignation - both in Denmark and the rest of Europe.
Since the founding in 2010, Emply has developed successfully through solid entrepreneurship and innovation. But a natural part of rapid growth is that at some point, the organization will need clearer and more structured processes to scale further. That means significant investments have been made in the last year.
Emply is an important, strategic core product in Paychex Europe's ambition to create the market's strongest HCM solution and reach a billion Danish kroner in revenue by 2027.
"Emply will be one of our most important players in the rollout of our HCM solution - both in Denmark and internationally. HCM stands for Human Capital Management, which means you can collect the entire employee life cycle in one system – from recruitment and onboarding to payroll and time recording and everything in between. Emply will be the foundation of the solution that you can connect to our other solutions", says CEO of Lessor Group Henrik Møller.
When Lessor Group examined the market for HR systems that matched the ambition to offer customers the best HCM solution and drive international growth, the choice fell on Emply because it was the strongest on several parameters.
"We chose Emply because HR specialists, customers, and the market confirmed the system to be incredibly intuitive and user-friendly. And we must stick to that - both for our Danish customers and when we move into Europe. In addition, the system is technologically modern with an open API, so it is easy to integrate with other systems – for example, your payroll, shift planning, or time recording system. Integration is crucial to tying the entire employee life cycle together in one platform across markets", says Henrik Møller, and continues:
“We know that Emply is a good product with international potential because the system is already being used in more than 20 countries. For example, these companies have their headquarters in Denmark or the Nordic countries and have rolled out the business globally in subsidiaries. We would like to exploit that potential by being present in some of those markets. But before we get there, it is important that the setup around the development of Emply is robust. So far, we have invested heavily in evaluating, modifying and upgrading the system to be technically capable of scaling.”
Emply's vision is to create better workplaces by providing an intuitive platform that empowers HR to focus on people by eliminating manual work and activating data into powerful insights. That is why we constantly optimize our product and strengthen the user journey.
“It is important that Emply is as simple and intuitive as possible for our customers. Emply must be the additional resource in the company that makes everyday life easier and better by gathering and automating all HR processes. In addition, Emply must function as an important, strategic tool by providing valuable data to managers and HR - for example on absence, well-being and performance", says Product Manager in Emply Simon Svenstrup and continues:
"Dialogue with our customers is important so that we know what needs and challenges they face during a working day. Therefore, we will involve the customers much more in our design and product development - for example, by doing more interviews and user tests on features we have not yet developed. That means we know early in the process whether there is evidence to proceed with the ideas.
We also look at how news dissemination in Emply can become clearer and more effective to engage employees more, because this is something our customers want. And then we look at how data and notifications can help managers to be made aware of irregular behavior by an employee that they should act on - for example, many sick days within a short period. In this way, the system will help our customers to ensure that any problems that affect well-being and the working environment are taken care of.”
Emply covers the entire employee life cycle with our five modules: Employee, Recruitment, Onboarding, Feedback and Learning (LMS). All modules are connected and data flows freely between them, so the whole cycle is always up to date. That means, for example, you can include learning material in the pre- and onboarding process, so that your new employees get an extra thorough introduction to the company, tasks and colleagues. In addition, during the next year it will be possible to connect several of our payroll, shift planning and time recording systems with Emply.
Going forward, we are also looking at creating a time recording module so that Emply can also handle that part when the EU's working time directive and judgment from 2019 come into force. According to the directive, you as an employer must introduce a system where employees can register working hours. Here, our app will also come into play to make time recording extra easy for employees.
